I hear a sound, a buzzing noise, a thunder in the night
And suddendly I wake up sweating, the streets are burning bright A century has passed since yesterday
And every ghost and shadow has taken me away
So I look down the alleyway, got shivers down my spine
There's something really wrong out there and I'm not feeling fine A black gaunt man is standing in the yard
His eyes are open wide, the lights of crystal shards
The night-gaunt dressed in shadows
With fingers like winter branches in a graveyard The gaunt man lives in shadows
He'll mesmerize you with his gaze
And so I run away from him but I don't know this town And all around I see the ruins, the city's crumbling down Whatever I'm supposed to do in here?
There's no one else that I can see, no one that I can hear
And suddendly I face a child, eyes open wide with fear
He's hunched and trembling like a leaf, the dirty melts with tears I look at him and I'm so shocked to see
I recognize his deep blue stare, the dirty boy is me
The night-gaunt shade is all around
His long black nails emerge from every shadow The gaunt man's touch is haunting
He'll keep you here inside his maze

Once upon a time there was a house, right here On the outskirts of nowhere

I looked outside the windows In the warm spring afternoons
And I saw swallows racing around the house
There was music coming from Hergest Ridge Out there, where faeries sang in the wind
And beyond the hill, there was a city
Shining with marbles and ancient golden towers
People lived there, singing forgotten songs And playing harps and lutes not of this world With sounds no human instrument can imitate
There was a lake, under the twin suns And dark stars in the sky at night
There's no house, now, no swallows
Theres' no windows or spring afternoons anymore Just the shattered and broken remains of the seal
Was the guardian right? Is this all there is? Where's the Key? Where is the horn gate? Memories, memories are all I have left.
